# Capture on iPhone and iPad

## The New capture sheet

New captures go to the space the library is showing. **Paste** saves a copied link as a link, an image as an image, and text as a note. With nothing copied, it opens a link composer.

1. Tap the round plus button at the bottom, next to **Library**, **Inbox** and **Later**.
2. Pick **Note**, **Quote**, **Paste**, **Voice note**, **Photo** or **File**.
3. Save. The **Organize** step follows, where you can add a space, tags, a reminder or a note. See [After you save](https://resurf.so/guides/receipt).

With a keyboard: `⌘⇧N` New capture, `⌘N` New note, `⌘L` New link, `⌘⇧V` Paste to Resurf.

## From other apps

1. Tap Share in any app and choose **Save to Resurf**.
2. The item saves right away. Edit the title if you like.
3. Tap **Space**, **Tag**, **Remind** or **Note** to organize it.
4. Tap **Done**, or leave it and the sheet closes on its own.

Closing the sheet early loses nothing. The item is saved as soon as the sheet opens, and waits in the Inbox.

## Widgets, controls and quick actions

- Add the **Quick capture** widget to the Home Screen and tap **Note**, **Quote**, **Paste** or **Voice**.
- On the Lock Screen, the round widget opens New capture and the rectangular one opens the Inbox.
- On iOS 18 or later, add the **New note**, **Paste to Resurf** or **Record a voice note** control.
- Long-press the Resurf icon for **New note**, **Paste** or **Record**.

## Siri and Shortcuts

- “Save to Resurf”: Siri asks what to save. A link is saved as a link, anything else as a note.
- “Save a quote to Resurf”: Siri asks for the quote.
- “Record a voice note in Resurf”: opens the app and starts recording.

The same actions are in Spotlight and the Shortcuts app.

Saves from Siri skip the Organize step.

## Questions

### Can I take a photo with the camera from Resurf?

Not from Resurf. Take it in Camera, then share it to Save to Resurf.

### How many items can I share at once?

Up to 20 images or files, and up to 10 videos or links, in one share.

### My Lock Screen widget only opens Resurf.

The rectangular Lock Screen widget opens the Inbox, and the round one opens New capture. Only the Home Screen widget has a button for each type.
