- Paste: `⌘V` in the Mac main window

## Drop

On Mac:

1. Drag files, a folder, images, text or a link onto the main window. A **Drop here** field covers the library.
2. Or drop onto a space in the sidebar, the menu bar icon or the Dock icon.
3. The receipt shows progress and what was saved. See [After you save](https://resurf.so/guides/receipt).

On iPhone and iPad:

1. Drag images, PDFs, video, audio, files, links or Markdown onto Resurf, for example from another app in Split View. Plain text can't be dropped.
2. A message confirms **Saved to Resurf**.

## Where drops go

- **Mac main window:** the space you're browsing, or the Inbox.
- **A space in the sidebar:** that space. This takes files and folders from Finder.
- **Menu bar icon or Dock icon:** the Inbox.
- **iPhone and iPad:** the space the library is showing.

## Paste

Resurf works out the type: a web address becomes a link, an image becomes an image, and other text becomes a note. On Mac, copied files stay files, and two or more links, one per line, save as a batch of links.

On Mac:

1. Copy files, an image, a link or text.
2. Press `⌘V` in the main window, while you aren't typing in a field.

On iPhone and iPad:

1. Copy an image, a link or text.
2. Tap the plus button, then **Paste**. With a keyboard, press `⌘⇧V`.

## Folders and batches

On Mac, many items dropped or pasted at once save as one batch, with one receipt. The receipt counts as it goes, and **Stop** cancels what hasn't started. What's already saved stays.

Folders are read with everything inside them. Inside folders, Resurf keeps images, video, audio, PDFs, text and Markdown files, and .webloc links, and skips other files. A file dropped on its own is always kept.

## Questions

### Why didn't some files in my folder save?

Inside folders, Resurf keeps only images, video, audio, PDFs, text and Markdown files, and .webloc links. The receipt says how many it skipped. A file dropped on its own is always kept.

### My drop went to the Inbox, not my space.

Only drops on the main window while you browse a space, or on a space in the sidebar, go to that space. Menu bar and Dock drops go to the Inbox.

### Is there a size limit?

Up to 2 GB per file, and 10 MB of text per item. A batch has no limit on the number of items.
