# Free and Pro

> The Mac app is free for up to 50 captures and 4 spaces, and a Resurf Pro license removes both limits.

## What the free plan includes

- Up to 50 captures and 4 spaces, with no time limit.
- Everything else works the same, including AI, search and sync.
- Captures synced from your iPhone or iPad count toward the 50.

The iPhone and iPad app has no limit and no license.

## Buy and activate

1. Open the workspace menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose **Upgrade to Resurf Pro**.
2. Click the **Buy** button, which shows the price. Checkout opens in your browser.
3. Paste your key into **Paste your license key** and click **Activate license**. The card then says “You're Pro”.

You can also activate in **Settings → Account**: paste the key into **License key** and click **Activate**.

## When you reach the limit

At 50 captures, the main window shows “You've used your 50 free captures”. Nothing is deleted: your captures stay on disk and keep syncing. From there you can **Export everything** or **Show vault in Finder**.

Making a fifth space opens the license offer instead.

## Move a license to another Mac

1. On the Mac you're leaving, open **Settings → Account**.
2. Under **Devices**, click **Deactivate** on **This Mac** and confirm.
3. Activate your key on the new Mac.

No longer have the old Mac? Deactivate it from **Devices** on another Mac that has your license.

## Questions

### Is there a trial?

There's no time limit. The free plan is 50 captures and 4 spaces, for as long as you like.

### Is the iPhone app free?

The iPhone and iPad app has no limit and no license. Captures you make there sync to your Mac and count toward its 50.

### Activation says I've used all my device slots.

Open Settings → Account on a Mac that has your license, deactivate a Mac you no longer use under Devices, then activate again.
