# Links and browser extensions

## Save the page you're on

Works with Safari, Google Chrome, Arc, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi.

On Mac:

1. With the page open in your browser, press `⌘⇧C`, then `L`.
2. The field already holds the page. If no supported browser was in front, it holds a link you copied instead.
3. If there are both, a row under the field offers the other one.
4. Press `Return` or `⌘⏎` to save. To save several links at once, paste them all into the field.

The first time, macOS asks to let Resurf control your browser. If you said no, allow it in **System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation**, then quit and reopen Resurf.

## Chrome extension

The extension's toolbar button only shows tips. Capturing is in the right-click menu.

On Mac:

1. Get the extension from the sidebar's workspace menu: **Apps**, then **Get the Chrome extension**.
2. Keep Resurf running.
3. Right-click a page, selected text, a link, an image, a video or audio, and choose **Capture to Resurf**.
4. The receipt appears on your Mac.

Captures go to Resurf on your Mac, not over the internet.

## Safari extension

The Safari extension comes with the Resurf app.

On Mac:

1. Turn on the Resurf extension in Safari.
2. Click its toolbar button, **Capture to Resurf**, or press `⌘⇧S`. It saves the selection, or the page when nothing is selected.
3. Or right-click and choose **Capture to Resurf**.
4. The button shows ✓ when it worked, or ! when it didn't.

On iPhone and iPad:

1. Turn on the Resurf extension in Safari.
2. Tap its toolbar entry, **Capture to Resurf**.

## Saving a link twice

Saving a link you already have doesn't make a second capture. The receipt says **Already saved**, and any new tags and spaces are added to the original. The original keeps its date, so it doesn't move to the top.

## Questions

### The Link field is empty.

Your browser must be in front when you press ⌘⇧C, and Resurf needs Automation permission for it. Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, then quit and reopen Resurf.

### Nothing happens when I choose Capture to Resurf in Chrome.

Refresh the page if it was open before you installed the extension, and make sure Resurf is running.
