# Screenshots and colors

> Take a screenshot of part of your screen, or pick a color from anywhere on it, and save it.

## Take a screenshot

If your browser was in front, the shot keeps that page as its source. You can change or remove it in the Media step.

1. Press `⌘⇧2`. Or choose **Screenshot** in the menu bar icon's menu, or press `S` in the widget's picker.
2. Drag over the area you want. `Esc` cancels.
3. The shot waits in the widget's Media step. Add more shots or files, or remove it.
4. Press `⌘⏎` to save.

## Pick a color

1. Press `C` in the widget's picker, or choose **Color** in the menu bar icon's menu.
2. The widget hides and an eyedropper appears. Click any color on screen.
3. It saves at once as a Color capture, titled with its hex value.

Picking a color you already saved shows **Already saved** instead of a second capture.

## Text in screenshots

Resurf reads the words in your images on your Mac and adds them to search, so you can find a screenshot by what it says. This doesn't need AI features.

## Questions

### I took a screenshot but nothing was saved.

The shot waits in the widget's Media step. Press ⌘⏎ to save it.

### The screenshot shortcut does nothing.

Resurf needs Screen Recording permission. The widget shows “Screenshots need screen recording”: click Open Settings and allow Resurf, and the screenshot continues by itself.

### Can I capture the whole screen or one window?

Resurf saves the area you drag over. It has no separate full-screen or window option.
