# Trash

> Deleted captures wait in the Trash for 30 days, then they're deleted for good.

## Open the Trash

Anything you delete goes to the Trash and stays there for 30 days. After that it's deleted for good.

On Mac:

1. Press `⌘5`, or click **Trash** in the sidebar.
2. Each capture shows how long it has left, such as “12 days left”.

On iPhone and iPad:

1. Tap the menu circle at the left of the bottom bar to open the Places page.
2. Tap **Trash**.

## Restore captures

Restored captures come back with their spaces, tags, pin and reminder.

On Mac:

1. In the Trash, right-click a capture and choose **Restore**.
2. For several, click **Select**, pick them, and click **Restore** on the bar.
3. To bring everything back, open the inspector and click **Restore all**.

Restoring is on Mac. iPhone and iPad can show the Trash but can't restore from it.

## Delete forever

To delete before the 30 days are up:

On Mac:

1. Right-click a capture and choose **Delete forever**. It happens at once.
2. Or click **Select**, pick captures, click **Delete forever** on the bar, then click again to confirm.
3. To empty the whole Trash, open the inspector, click **Empty trash**, then click **Delete all forever?** to confirm.

Delete forever can't be undone.

## Questions

### Can I restore something I deleted on my iPhone?

Not from iPhone or iPad. Restoring is on Mac, in its Trash.

### Can I undo Delete forever?

No. Once deleted forever, a capture is gone.
