Write notes, highlight PDFs

Notes are white paper with plain markdown underneath. Highlights on PDFs and notes are comments, so they sync and search like everything else.

The editor

Type / for the slash menu: headings, quotes, code, dividers, bullet, numbered, and checklists. Bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, and ==highlight== work as you type. An outline rail on the side follows your scroll.

Tip · There's a shortcuts sheet inside the editor if you forget one.

Highlight a PDF

Open a PDF, select text, highlight. Add a comment to any mark. Highlights can span pages, stay put at any zoom, and show up in the comments pane and the inspector (⌘\).

Safe across devices

Highlights and comments sync item by item, so two devices adding different highlights both keep theirs. Note text syncs when you leave the note, and if the same note is edited in two places, both versions are kept. Nothing is overwritten.
