Later and reminders
Put a capture off until a time you pick. It comes back to the top of the Inbox.
- Start
- Lon Mac
- On
- Mac, iPhone, iPad
Put something off
Select a capture, or move to it in the Inbox, and press L. Or right-click it and choose Remind…
Pick a time: press its number, click it, or press L again for the default.
For any other time, choose Pick a date…, type something like “fri 3pm” or “in two weeks”, and press Return. Or click a day on the calendar.
Open the capture and tap More, or long-press it in the library.
Tap Remind me and pick a time.
To cancel, open Remind me again and tap Remove reminder. The capture comes back to the Inbox now.
The times
- Later today: 6:00 pm. Offered before 5:00 pm.
- Tomorrow: 9:00 am.
- This weekend: Saturday, 9:00 am. Offered on weekdays.
- Next week: Monday, 9:00 am.
On Mac, a typed day without a time comes back at 9:00 am, or 6:00 pm if you write “tonight” or “evening”.
When it comes back
It goes to the top of the Inbox, under Reminders. A capture that's in a space stays there while it waits. On Mac, a notification says “Back in your inbox”; click it to open the capture.
Bring it back early
On Mac, open the Inbox's Later list, select the capture, press L and choose Now. On iPhone and iPad, tap Remove reminder.
Questions
Can I put something off with no date?
Not with Later: every choice has a time. On Mac, press A in the Inbox to archive it instead.
