Make a space

A space has a name, a color and an icon.

  1. Click + beside Spaces in the sidebar and choose New space.

  2. Type a name in Space name. Pick a color, or click the badge to choose an icon, if you like.

  3. Press Return to create it.

  1. Tap the menu circle at the left of the bottom bar to open the Places page.

  2. Tap New space.

  3. Type a name in Space name, pick an icon, area and color if you like, and tap Create.

Put captures in a space

A capture can be in more than one space.

  1. Drag captures onto a space in the sidebar, or onto a tile on the Spaces page (⌘6).

  2. A plain drop moves them into that space and replaces their other spaces. Hold Shift as you drop to add the space and keep the others.

  3. Or select captures and press S to pick spaces.

  1. Open a capture and tap Space at the top of its panel. For several, select them and tap Space on the bulk bar.

  2. Tick the spaces you want in Add to space. Type a new name to create one.

Group spaces into areas

An area groups spaces one level up. It holds no captures itself.

  1. Click + beside Spaces and choose New area.

  2. Type a name in Area name and press Return.

  3. Drag spaces into it, or right-click a space and choose Move to area.

  1. On the Places page, tap New area, type a name and tap Create.

  2. To put a space in it, long-press the space tile, tap Area and pick the area.

Change or delete a space

  1. Right-click a space in the sidebar, or click its …, and choose Edit space…

  2. Color and icon save as you pick them. The name saves when you press Return.

  3. To remove it, choose Delete space and confirm.

  1. On the Places page, long-press a space tile.

  2. Tap Name and color, Icon or Area to change it, or Delete space to remove it.

Deleting a space can't be undone. Its captures stay in the library. Deleting an area moves its spaces out to Spaces.

Questions

Can a capture be in more than one space?

Yes, as many as you like. On Mac, a plain drag onto a space replaces the others; hold Shift as you drop to add it instead.

Does deleting a space delete its captures?

No. The captures stay in the library.

Why can't I make a fifth space?

Without a license, the Mac app allows 4 spaces. iPhone and iPad have no such limit.
